About Kristy
Before I arrived here at Apothecary Kitchen, I spent 15 years as a beauty industry insider and aging expert specializing in successfully teaching folks how to delay and reverse signs of aging.
My expertise in cellular and molecular biology deepened my understanding of how altering the cellular environment can significantly impact our health and how we age.
I lectured at conferences, colleges, and medical practices across the country and educated professionals in cosmetic dermatology and plastic surgery on the science on tissue and wound healing, the mechanisms of cellular aging, age reversal and skin care.
Cellular health, health optimization and reversing chronic disease are some of my greatest passions!
This fast-paced travel-intensive role was incredibly fulfilling, allowing me to help others look and feel their best. However, as it often goes - my own health became neglected. At the age of 32 I weighed over 250 pounds and had elevated cholesterol, blood pressure, and A1C levels, markers for potential Type 2 Diabetes.
My first wake-up call came in July 2015 when I watched the documentary "Forks Over Knives". This film highlighted the link between diet and lifestyle diseases, which resonated deeply with me as I had witnessed these conditions affect both of my grandmothers—both had heart attacks in their 50s, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, both developed Type 2 diabetes, arthritis, and cancer. I knew it was time to make some changes.
As my health improved, my passion for this lifestyle grew! I lost weight and regained control over my health. I grew a profound sense of relief and empowerment.
Then in 2017 after being diagnosed with a brain tumour, I embarked even further on a personal journey to research cancer progression. This led me to the development of my pillars of health optimization:
Eating a nutrient-rich, whole-food, plant-based diet
Engaging in daily movement and exercise
Eliminating any carcinogenic compounds from my environment
Practicing mindfulness and meditation
Maintaining good sleep hygiene and rest
Incorporating regular bouts of fasting
